FAQ

  • Why should I organise a makeup trial?

Bridal trials are optional, however I strongly recommend them. Booking a makeup preview (trial) will save you time and stress on your special day. Your preview appointment will be the most beneficial way to find out if the makeup that you want will suit you, which is invaluable prior to your wedding day. If you are feeling unsure about your look, this can be communicated and altered without the stress of time restrictions. Previews allow your artist to get familiar with your face and confirm that all products are sitting correctly on your skin. It also gives you and your makeup artist a chance to bond before your wedding.

  • What happens at the preview?

I will work with you to create your dream makeup look. This involves many techniques that are tailored uniquely to you and your desired outcome. Previews are a safe space to openly communicate about any concerns that you have for your makeup look or your skin. Please ensure to bring along 2-3 inspiration photos of the makeup that you are aiming to achieve, this is crucial to ensure that you and your artist are visually on the same page. Extra time is allocated to preview appointments. It is encouraged that you wear white to your bridal preview appointment.

  • WHEN SHOULD I BOOK A preview?

Scheduling your makeup preview on the same day as your hair preview, and a few days after your spray-tan trial, is recommended to see how everything looks together. Otherwise, lining up your bridal trial on your hens' night is a great wear test. We suggest that your preview is booked roughly 2-3 months out from your wedding date.

  • HOW DO I CHOOSE MY MAKEUP INSPIRATION PHOTO?

It is important to have realistic goals for your makeup prior to your appointment. Take inspiration from a model that has similar features to yourself. Such as, similar hair/skin/eye colour and similiar age etc. Keep in mind that makeup differs depending on a persons complexion and face shape. You can take inspiration from social media platforms such as Instagram or Pinterest, however keep in mind what you see online may have been edited or filtered. Fine lines, pores and skin texture is normal, no matter the experience or the talent of the makeup artist!

Please note that all makeup artists specialise in different styles of makeup. Coastal Glo by Zo specialises in natural, understated makeup looks; focusing on emphasising your own natural beauty. Referring to your makeup artists Instagram/Facebook or Website when looking for your inspiration photos is a great place to start!

  • Will I need to touch up my makeup?

I use the highest of quality products to ensure the longevity of your makeup, however long wear is never guaranteed and varies depending on the person and skin type (This is why previews are so important!)

I suggest purchasing a compact powder so that you have the option to touch up, as well as lipstick/gloss in the shade that you are wanting to wear on the day. Lipstick is unavoidably the most common product that won’t wear all day/ night. I am always happy to give you a personalised recommendation, if you are unsure which product you will need to purchase for your special day.

  • I’m not used to wearing makeup, and would prefer a more natural look. Will I look overdone?

I pride myself on being a makeup artist that specialises in emphasising natural beauty, creating elegant and timeless makeup looks. I use high-quality makeup and skincare in my kit to provide a flawless result. However, one thing to keep in mind is that healthy skin = healthy looking makeup. To ensure a flawless outcome, investing in regular facials and having a consistent at-home skincare routine will be your bestfriend. Your skin prep should begin 6 months before your wedding.

  • What happens if you are sick on my wedding/formal day?

In the circumstance that I am sick, rest assured that I have a wide range of contact with other local makeup artists that I highly recommend. If they happened to be unavailable, I am also part of the QLD makeup community, that can supply a makeup artist if I were in an emergency situation.

  • What makeup brands do you use?

I use a variety of high quality makeup brands, and only stock products I genuinely love and trust. The beauty industry is forever evolving and changing, as does my makeup kit. However, you will consistently find me using the following brands; Dior, Nars, Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass, Laura Mercier, MAC Cosmetics, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Tarte, Rare Beauty, Makeup by Mario, MECCA Max, and many more.

  • What methods of payment do you accept?
